My husband and I LOVE to visit county fairs. While I grew up in rural Minnesota, he’s from the Bronx, NY. I love visiting county fairs because it brings me back to childhood and makes me feel connected to my roots.
He loves visiting county fairs because it’s a whole new experience for him and it offers a great way to experience the Minnesota tradition of county fairs and get an up close look at all things related to that traditional farm way of life.
The livestock exhibitions and horse shows are wins for both of us.
We also like to look at all of the entries for judging for both 4-H and open classes including the produce, home cooking, hand crafts, art, sewing, science projects and everything else.
And of course there’s the fair food! Each county fair seems to have its own specialties whether it’s a great food stand by the local 4-H, Lion’s Club or other organization or your basic mini donuts and corn dogs at a carnival stand.
You can also find music, grandstand performances, tractor pulls, demolition derbys, auto racing, kids activities, talent shows, parades, commercial exhibits, vendors, rides and games and so much more at county fairs.
